Your stay at Glengarry Private Hospital

Children:

For parents or guardians who wish to stay overnight with their children, arrangements can be made. For children who are admitted for a surgical procedure, arrangements may be made with the Operating Suite Manager to visit the operating suite prior to admission.

Clergy:

We can arrange for Ministers of religion to visit at your request. Please ask your ward staff if you require assistance.

Electrical Appliances:

All appliances must be checked by the Hospital electrician prior to being used due to workplace health and safety regulations and to ensure patient safety. Please advise staff if you have an electric shaver or hair dryer or other piece of electronic equipment you wish to have checked.

Flowers:

Flowers are welcome to help brighten up your stay in hospital. It is advisable that potted plants are not brought into the hospital for infection control reasons.

Hairdresser:

A visit from a Hairdresser can be arranged at your request.  Please ask staff to make an appointment for you.  Payment is required to be made directly to the visiting stylist.

Interpreters:

Available on request.

Laundry:

The Hospital does not provide a personal laundry service. Please make your own arrangements with the help of family and friends.

Mail & Faxes:

Patients can send and receive mail and faxes. Incoming mail is delivered to the wards daily, and outgoing mail may be left at the front office for posting.   Mail delivered after your discharge will be forwarded to your home address.  If you would like to email a patient, please click on the email address provided, HarveyR@ramsayhealth.com.au and we will ensure your email is delivered to the patient.

Meals:

At Glengarry Private Hospital, all meals are prepared freshly on site by our experienced Catering Team.  We offer a range of professionally prepared, delicious and healthy meals. Special dietary requirement meals are catered for on request and a dietitian is available for consultation when required.  Please discuss with your ward staff if you require any assistance.

Pharmacy:

Medications on prescription are supplied from an offsite pharmacy.

For general pharmacy supplies the Glengarry Pharmacy (phone 9447 4482) 57 Arnisdale Road, Duncraig is located in the medical centre next to the hospital. Opening hours are

Monday : 8.30 am – 7.00 pm
Tuesday - Friday : 8.30am – 6.00 pm
Saturday : 8.30 am –1 pm

Security:

For the safety of patients and staff, an electronic security system has been fitted throughout the hospital. If your room has an external door, please make sure it is locked before you retire at night.

Smoking:

Glengarry Private Hospital is committed to providing all of our patients and employees with a healthy and safe environment.  Therefore, Glengarry Private Hospital is a Smoke Free Hospital.  This means, that smoking will no longer be permitted anywhere on the premises or grounds of the hospital.  We thank you for your co-operation in maintaining a safe environment at Glengarry Private Hospital. Suggestions:

During your stay you will be offered a questionnaire addressing certain aspects of our activities. We would be grateful if you could participate to assist us in monitoring the standards of our hospital.

If you are unhappy about any aspect of your care, please contact the ward nurse when the problem first occurs. If you are not satisfied, ask to see the Chief Executive Officer / Director of Nursing.

Telephones:

There is a phone with direct dialing facilities beside every bed (excluding Day Unit) for local, STD and mobile calls. Please check your phone number on admission with the nurses so you can inform your family and friends of the direct dialing facilities. ISD calls can be arranged via reception. Mobile, STD and ISD calls will be charged to your account. Please do not use mobile phones in the Hospital as they potentially interfere with medical equipment. 

Television:

All patient rooms are equipped with Digital TV's offering freeview stations and access to 15 foxtel channels. Fees may apply. We ask that the volume be kept low at night allowing comfort for all patients.

Valuables:

We recommend that valuables are left at home. Whilst we will try to ensure that all patients possessions are safe and secure we cannot accept liability for any loss of patient items during a hospital stay.
