Day Surgery Patients
What to bring
- Hearing aid
- Glasses if needed for reading – there will be forms to sign on admission
- Medicare Card
- Do not bring valuables as the hospital cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged items
On arrival please report to the receptionist in the Front Office where you will be requested to complete some paper work. You will then be escorted to the Day Unit and shown to your bed with a locker available for your belongings. Here you will be admitted by a nurse and prepared for your operation. You most probably will be visited by your Anaesthetist prior to your operation.
Due to the configuration of the Day Unit and in the interest of patient privacy, visitors are restricted in the Day Unit.
On discharge you will be given information regarding your post operative care. It is strongly advised that you have a responsible adult to escort you home and remain with you until the following morning. Do not drive or operate hazardous machinery for 24 hours. Do not make important personal or business decisions for 24 hours.
