What to bring:
- Referral letter from your General Practitioner
- Hearing aid
- Glasses if needed for reading – there will be forms to sign on admission
- Medicare Card
- Do not bring valuables as the hospital cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged items
On arrival please report to the receptionist in the Day Unit where you will be requested to complete some paper work. A nurse will then admit you and give you a hospital gown and dressing gown to change into and a locker for your clothes. Once you have changed the nurse looking after you will take a medical history and show you to your bed to prepare you for your procedure.
Expect your stay to last between 3-4 hours. Visitors are restricted in the Day Unit. The Day Unit staff will contact your escort when you are ready to leave
On discharge, you will be given a written report with the results of your procedure.
If you are having sedation it is strongly advised that you have a responsible adult to escort you home and remain with you until the following morning. Do not drive or operate hazardous machinery until the next morning. Do not make important personal or business decisions until the next morning.
