Our Services: Palliative Care
Palliative Care
What is Palliative Care?
Palliative care supports people with a life- limiting illness where cure is not an option. We care & support people with cancer including leukaemia, motor-neurone disease, end-stage respiratory & heart disease.
It is an approach to care that aims to improve the quality of a person’s life & recognises the needs of family & friends throughout the illness. Through our holistic approach, we aim to address physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
How can we help people?
- Optimise symptom control (including pain, nausea, anxiety)
- Palliative rehabilitation to optimise patient’s independence
- Supporting patients through radiotherapy/chemotherapy with a palliative intent.
- Respite care
- Facilitation of complex discharge planning between hospital and home
- Terminal care
