Luxury extras making the maternity experience extra special

Jul 13, 2022

In a first for WA, expectant parents are being offered luxury hotel stays, high tea and cheese platters to make the maternity experience extra special.

Joondalup Private Hospital and Glengarry Private Hospital, both part of Ramsay Health Care, offer the extras in addition to expert care and access to a wide range of postnatal and prenatal services.

Joondalup Private Hospital maternity nurse manager Sandy Flugge said eligible couples can enjoy up to two nights apartment accommodation in peaceful surrounds at Quest Joondalup before heading home.

“The staycation is part of the Little Luxuries service, which is designed to provide the optimal transition environment for new parents to bond with their baby,” Ms Flugge said.

“Little Luxuries features free parking, a private room and partners can stay overnight.”

Maternity patients at Glengarry Private Hospital can enjoy a taste of luxury with a complimentary high tea and cheese platter.

New parents can celebrate the arrival of their new baby in style, with gourmet delights prepared by top class chefs. The exclusive afternoon tea serves two to four family members and is enjoyed in the comfort of the patient’s private room.

New parents will also be spoilt with a complimentary cheese platter – a special treat for Mothers who have avoided eating soft cheeses during pregnancy.

Maternity Unit Nurse Manager Clare Davies said it was important for new parents to feel calm and relaxed.

“The first few days after birth are so important for Mums to adjust to their new role and bond with their babies,” Mrs Davies said.

“We try and make the transition as easy and pleasant as possible.

“We want our patients to have fond memories of their time in our maternity ward.

“The high tea and cheese platter provide opportunities for families to unwind, connect and communicate.”

Both private hospitals offer a range of personalised maternity services, tailored to best suit individual needs.

With an obstetrician-led care model and a greater choice in hospital experience, parents can look forward to attentive support and continuity of care throughout pregnancy and beyond.
