Glengarry Private Hospital provides a number of GP education events each year featuring Glengarry Private Hospital specialists and allied health professionals on topics relevant to General Practice. GP education activities are accredited with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners for QI&CPD points – Category 1 and 2.

Easing the Path in Early Parenting

The arrival of a baby can be fraught with physical, emotional and social challenges for new parents. This evening education event offers a cross-disciplinary approach to assist GPs in managing a range of issues that may present in general practice.

Presenters and Program

  • Dr Philip Rowlands (Obstetrician) and  Sue Kay (Midwife)
    • Exploring possible impacts on the early transition to parenthood - antenatal anxiety, assisted pregnancies and early expectations of parenthood
  • Dr Ian Everitt (Paediatrician)
    • The early postnatal transition (0-6wks) - infant reflux, parental anxiety, normalising expectations, management of settling issues in the early days
  • Miriam Krouzecky (Clinical Nurse Manager)
    • 6 weeks to 12m – sleep patterns and issues in the first year, maternal mood; comparing responsive vs behavioural settling techniques; what about emotional attachment
