A taste of luxury: WA’s first high tea for maternity patients
Nov 02, 2021
In a first for WA, maternity patients at Glengarry Private Hospital can enjoy a taste of luxury with a complimentary high tea and cheese platter.
New parents can celebrate the arrival of their new baby in style, with gourmet delights prepared by top class chefs.
The high tea features sweet treats such as fruit macaroons, patisserie profiteroles, carrot cake and scones with jam and cream. The savoury selection includes four cheese arancini, cold meat crostini, pulled pork donuts and Florentine tart with parmesan.
The exclusive afternoon tea serves two to four family members and is enjoyed in the comfort of the patient’s private room.
New parents will also be spoilt with a complimentary cheese platter – a special treat for Mothers who have avoided eating soft cheeses during pregnancy.
The high tea and cheese platter can be ordered on a day that best suits the patient.
Maternity Unit Nurse Manager Claire Davies said it was important for new parents to feel calm and relaxed.
“The first few days after birth are so important for Mums to adjust to their new role and bond with their babies,” Mrs Davies said.
“We try and make the transition as easy and pleasant as possible.
“We want our patients to have fond memories of their time in our maternity ward.
“The high tea and cheese platter provide opportunities for families to unwind, connect and communicate.”
Chief Executive Officer Leonie Gardiner said the hospital is always looking for little extras to stand out and make the maternity experience extra special.
